I was studying my Bible last night and the Word of God told a tremendous SR01 story about how Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.”  They got into a boat.  They went out there on the waters of that sea of Galilee, when suddenly a storm began to stir up.  And Jesus had gone to sleep.  And the disciples did not say what Jesus said.  They didn’t say, “Let us go over.”  They said, “We’re perishing.”  They said, “We’re going to drown.”  They said, “We’re going to die.”  And they went and woke Jesus up and said, “Jesus, don’t You even care that we’re about to perish in this great windstorm?”  You see, they forgot the words of Jesus, when Jesus said, “We’re going over to the other side.”  They said, “We’re going under.”

Jesus stood up and there in that ship He rebuked the winds and rebuked the waves and He hushed the sea to sleep.  And those disciples looked at Him and said, “What matter, what matter of man, what manner of man is this?”  Jesus turned and said to them, “Where is your faith?” And that’s the question that Jesus is asking you and me today, when are you and I going to stand tall and use the faith that God has given us to go over and not under.  While the devil’s roar is going in your life, God is saying to you, let us go over, let us not go under.  And the ORU Orchestra and I want to bring this song to life of going over, “Let Us Go Over To The Other Side.” Hallelujah.  SONG Let us go over to the other side I’m going over to the other side.  Stay tuned for this message coming up just for you. Just as a point of contact.  A point of contact is something you do, Arlie, and when you do it, you release your faith.  And as I reach out my hands to you as a point of contact, I also stretch out the prayer of faith.  And I come against the struggle in your life.  I pray for you today.  For those of you who have never received Jesus as your Savior, I pray right now that you’d pray this prayer out loud with me,  PRRR as everybody here prays this prayer out loud with me.

O Lord, be merciful to me a sinner.  Come into my heart.  Save me.  Forgive me.  I repent of my sins.  I turn my back on the devil.  And I receive Jesus Christ.  Friend, I pray for you to be healed in your body.  I speak to the sickness and the disease.  I command it, in the name of Jesus, to come out of your body.  And I agree with you for that thing to happen.  And I won’t change my mind.  I won’t come out of agreement with you until the healing comes.  I pray for God to multiply the seed that you sow.  Yes, those of you who are sowing seeds into this ministry this month and every month, I thank you for it.

But more than that, I pray for God to multiply it back to you in the way you need it the most.  I particularly want to pray for those of you who are on alcohol or on drugs today.  In the name of Jesus, you need deliverance.  And I pray for you to be healed today.  I want to remind you, we have the Set-Free Clinic over at the City of Faith.  It’s a drug and alcohol abuse center. SPLR LINDSAY ROBERTS You know, honey as Arlie was talking about being in Washington, recently Cheryl and I were in Washington, D.C. at the Women in Leadership Conference, and as we were there we were able to take a  IL02 tour of the, really the highlights of Washington.  And Cheryl and I got out of our car and we walked up to where the statue of Abraham Lincoln was sitting.  And when you walk up all those stairs, by the time you get up there you think you’re going to faint anyway.  And you get to the top and there was Abraham Lincoln.

And he is so massive, so enormous when you see it.  And Cheryl looked at that and she said “Do you see how big that is?”  And I said, “Yes.”  I could see her mind clicking. She said, “You know, Jesus said He’s got the whole world in His hands.”  And we saw how massive the hands of Abraham Lincoln on a statue looked.  And she said, “Can you imagine Jesus stretching out His hands when God said, He’s got the whole world in His hand,” like the song you teach your children, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hand.”  And I want to say something to you today, just being, hearing of Washington reminded me of this, whatever you need today, no matter how big your need is, if God can hold us in the palm of His hand, He can take care of your needs today.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Lindsay well, you see, Lindsay just had a baby eight weeks ago and the doctor is just now releasing her to begin to exercise.  And so she and I were doing Cheryl’s aerobic tape last night and Lindsay

SPLR LINDSAY ROBERTS We didn’t even get to the hard part.  Cheryl  kept saying, “This is the easy part, this is the warmup.”  I said, “I’ve got to stop, I’ve got to stop.”

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Lindsay got through the warmup.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Cashier’s checks….that’s what I was meaning.  This is for a special project in our anniversary month, our 40th anniversary celebration which begins…. or which began, I should say, the first of this month.  This is really something special and there isa project that goes along with this and that is restoration work at ORU this summer while the students are all over America and around the world preaching, singing, witnessing, and in businesses, on jobs, doing all kinds of things with missions teams all around the world.  We have to do some special restoration work here at ORU and we need to do that kind of restoration work during the summer when the students are gone. We’ve already begun to order the equipment and the materials and things like that.  Now I need to pay for that stuff. Now all of this, of course, needs to come in above and beyond our regular needs of operating ORU, the City of Faith, and everything. We also have ongoing needs at the university during the summertime too and, of course, one of the ongoing needs is to do some restoration work on the roofs, some parking lots, and classrooms, and things of that nature.  And we are still…. you have to keep things up.  You have to maintain things.

SPLR LINDSAY ROBERTS Last year we did the dormitories.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Last year we redid the dormitories and now we’re doing some exterior work.  Have we got…. I haven’t heard from anybody…  did we get some paint last week?  When I left for Korea, we needed 1,500 gallons of white paint and off-white paint and I haven’t had any report.  Can anybody tell me?  Did we get any paint?  Can anybody give me some word?  I don’t know.  I just got home from Korea this weekend and I don’t know.

SPLR LINDSAY ROBERTS Your body is here but half of you was left there.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Well, I’ll tell you what Richard, we ordered paint last week.

SPKM STEVE VICKERS Correct.  I went down to Florida just to get away for a few days…. I rented a condo down there and stayed for a few days just to fast and pray and spend some time with God.  And while I was down there the Lord impressed me, while I was just seeking the face of God, concerning his direction in the days ahead in our church, in our ministry.  God impressed me that Denise was to come down also.  Now we have four children and so she’s kept pretty busy, plus with the church and everything.  So I called her and said, “Denise, I really believe that you are to come down.  Just take a few days to come down and be with me.”  I had already been down for three days, so she came down and really, it was during that time that God spoke to her to make an appointment at the Charismatic Bible Ministries Conference in June of 1986.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS What do you mean an appointment?

SPKM STEVE VICKERS Well, maybe she needs to share that with you. But, you know, God is real.  And we can make an appointment with God and say, “God, at such and such a time I’m going to meet with you and you’re going to do so-and-so in my life.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS All right, Denise, were you saying, “I am making an appointment with God that at that Charismatic Bible Ministries Oral Roberts Conference last year I’m going to release my faith for miracles”?

SPKM DENISE VICKERS Yes, yes.  I knew I could not come back from that meeting now healed. I knew I had to get healed.  (APPLAUSE) I would do this.  I would hold my hand over my heart and I would say, “Steve, I’m sick, I’m sick.  My heart is sick.”  I was disappointed in God.  It was affecting my spiritually and, see, I knew it wasn’t God but I couldn’t understand how can you be healed and still be in pain, but I knew I heard God say that. And so for 2| years I suffered in this thing.  And driving back from Florida in the car I was listening to a healing tape and I turned off the tape player and I said to the devil, “It is you, Satan…..” because, see, for 2| years I tried to deal with it with vitamins, nutrition, I quit eating for 6 weeks and tried to see if it was food. I did everything in the natural that I knew to do.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS And you’d done everything your doctors told you to do.

SPKM DENISE VICKERS I read everything the doctors told me, I took every medication, and they had to put me on stronger medication. I signed release forms for damage to my liver and to my eyes, going blind for this medication that I was on to keep me walking because they were predicting the wheelchair, Richard.  I was in severe pain.  And in the car I turned that tape player off and I settled it once and for all.  It is not vitamins that is my answer, it is not nutrition, it is the devil that’s doing this to me.  The devil was harrassing my body and I had to settle it.  I would waver in and out of it.  I would go in the natural and try to deal with it in the natural and the next minute I’d say, “It’s the spiritual.”  And I did everything in the spiritual I knew to do.

SPKM STEVE VICKERS I want to say this, Richard, and it’s so important because we were in the middle of this and I saw what was going on.  I was in it but also like an observer, and I saw this.  Whenever you give the enemy a little ground, that’s not the end.  When you allow him to compromise what you know to be the truth, he is not going to stop until he has destroyed all of the foundation of your faith.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS It’s like a song I heard a man write.  He said, “Don’t let the devil ride cause if you let him ride, he’ll want to drive.”

SPKM DENISE VICKERS That’s right, that’s right.  And let me tell you something.  In the car I settled it.  I said, “It is you, devil.”  I settled it.  Then I said, “Okay, God, I’m making an appointment right now.”  Now I was driving home to Montgomery and I said, “God, I want to make an appointment with you,” and I knew if you make an appointment with God according to the Word, if you cry out to God, he’s going to hear you. (APPLAUSE)  So I put God on the line and I said, “God, in five weeks I’m going to Tulsa.” And I knew… if you’re going to get healed, you ought to be able to get healed in Tulsa, you know.  So I knew, I knew it was going to happen.  I settled it.

Father, I take authority over this sickness.  I take authority over the disease.  In Jesus’ name I stand against it. And my brother, my sister, young person, in Jesus’ name I pray for you to be healed.  There is an elbow that is being healed.  My — the power of God is present to heal today.  That is what the Bible says. “The power of God was present to heal.”  And God’s power hasn’t changed.  He’s got just as much healing power now as he had then.  He said, “I am the Lord, I change not.”  And his Son Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.  Yes, yes.  Okay. Somebody is getting a healing on your scalp.  The little growth and thing on the scalp is being healed right now.  You say, “Well, that’s kind of crazy.”  Well, I’m only giving you what God has given me.”  And I’ll deliver his word, and I will be unashamed.  I am not ashamed of delivering God’s word to you. Rise up on the inside.  Take new hope.  You say, “Well, I am at the very end.”  Well, I’m praying a “very end” Holy Ghost prayer for you. And I expect a miracle in your life.  I rebuke that sin in your life. That thing that you have been trying to discard. God can turn it around in your life.  You that are on drugs and alcohol — you are going to hear a testimony in a few minutes from a man who has been to hell and back.  It’s going to be a blessing in your life.  And then we are going to have a prayer for you as a drug addict, for you as an alcoholic, for you who have been in prison.  You’re going to hear a testimony that is going to help turn your life around.  In fact, you’d better call somebody on the phone right now and say — you’re going to hear something on Richard Roberts program today that is going to make a difference in your life.  Don Stanley will be here in a minute to share a magnificent testimony, one of the best testimonies you will ever hear in your life.  It will be a blessing to you.  And I speak to that fear.   SR01 The Bible says, “God has not given you the spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind.” ( RR_2_Timothy_01:07 ) I rebuke  SU01 that fear.  That fear is not from God.  Now I am not talking about a normal fear — I’m not talking about a healthy respect, like when you walk across the street you look both ways for a car.  I’m not talking about that.  I’m talking about the kind of fear that comes to torment you.  That kind of fear is not of God.  And I rebuke that thing in your life.  And I pray for you to take new strength and new courage. And for you to say — I’m not going to be afraid of this tormenting thing anymore.  And you and I right now join together and take authority over it in the name of Jesus.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS And speaking of welcomes.  I want you to help me to welcome two very special people to our television program, friends of this ministry, friends of our family — James and Betty Robinson.  (APPLAUSE)  James, God bless you.  Betty, so glad you could come with James and be with us.  (APPLAUSE) James.  I have something that I want to talk to you about.  But I want to follow up on this letter that I received from this Vietnam veteran.  Because there are many servicemen who feel because of what they had to do in wars, such as the Vietnam War, and especially in a war that received much criticism.  Now let’s just be honest about it.  It received a lot of criticism, although the newspapers painted it in ways in which it was not — and the newspapers are famous for that, as you well know.  But I wanted to know your response.  Have you had to deal with this kind of thing in your own ministry?  And how would you respond to a man or a woman who has had to do something in a war and it’s been eating them up on the inside.

SPKM JAMES ROBINSON Richard, I think you handled it beautifully. I think what you said is perfectly appropriate.  I also would like to add to it just simply the thought from the New Testament, because you did refer to the Old Testament illustration of how God did use David to destroy the enemies of God who were in fact out to destroy the innocent ones.  And whether we realize it or not, Jesus Christ actually came and gave his own life in behalf of those who are innocent through Christ and through his redemptive plan — but he also delivered a death blow to the kingdom of darkness.  And which ultimately will be the total elimination of all the powers of the enemy and the enemy himself. So Jesus came and gave his life for us.  There was combat there. It was mortal as far as he was concerned.  Because it cost him his life.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS That’s right.

SPKM JAMES ROBISON  SU01 But in the 13th chapter of Romans we find a very definite reference to the authorities and to the rulers.  And I would like to just share that.  First of all, there is the exhortation from the Lord to be in subjection to the governing authority except that which is established by God. Therefore, if you resist authority, and you are opposing the ordinance of God, and those who do oppose will receive condemnation in themselves, for rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil.  Do you want to have no fear of authority?  Do what is good, and you will have the praise of authority.  For it is a minister of God to you for good.  But if you do what is evil, be afraid, for the authority, the ruling power does not bear the sword for nothing.  It is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath upon the one who practices evil. And that is precisely what these individuals were doing as subjects of the ruling authorities.  They were instruments of death to those who were in opposition to the right or to good. And so they were actually serving the country.  I do not feel there is any reason for them to have any sort of a feeling of guilt.  Of course they have hurt in their heart that the war ever took place in the first place.  We are always sorry when wars come.  But they do come.  And when we serve our country that is a noble thing, and it’s not something to be in any kind of a guilt trip over.  And we just pray for God to give total healing and restoration in the mind and memories to anyone who did serve the country.

SPKM LARRY LEA Hey, thank you, Richard.  It’s a joy to be here. And I am so thankful today that James and Betty Robinson and Buck and Dottie Rambo are here — but before they share with us we’ve got a couple of guys here from ORU that are part of the Karate Club or the Karate team.  I want you to tell me what you guys do? What is the Karate group?

SPKM JEFF MCKISSICK  SU02 Basically what we do is we are getting rid of a negative stereotype about the martial arts.  Just as John Jacobs and his Power Team were here the other day, and they were talking about a common ground.  That is what we are seeking to establish.  There are a lot of people in the martial arts, and there are a lot of people are interested in being in the martial arts, but a negative stereotype keeps them from it.  They think that in order to be in martial arts you must bow to certain idols.  Well, we bow before and after our class to the only bow of submission in our club here at ORU, is a bow to the Lord God Almighty. (APPLAUSE)

SPKM DAVID SHAY I’m one of the officers of the club, I’m the secretary.

SPKM LARRY LEA You’re the secretary.  Let me ask you — I understand you have a presentation today.  What is that, please? 

SPKM JEFF MCKISSICK The club is a part of Oral Roberts University and a part of this ministry.  As a part of this ministry we are in support of everything that this ministry stands for, which is the healing team concepts. And we are here today to present the first of what will be a series of checks from that club.  Every month they have to give dues as a part of being a member of that club.  And these dues, now and in the future, will go toward the healing team ministry of Oral Roberts University.  (APPLAUSE)

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Hallelujah.

SPKM LARRY LEA Jeff, Thank you so much for that.  This is a check for $100.  And I want to just say thank you to you, Jeff, for you commitment to the Lord.  And the fact that we are a unified force for the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ right here at ORU. Richard, it’s a joy.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Larry, while you are standing there — there are other groups around campus that are doing things like this. And sowing seeds.  Yesterday we received a check from a group of students who have been collecting aluminum cans and newspapers and turning them in.  They set a goal — they wanted to sow a seed of $10,000 in the medical missions.  And yesterday they gave the first seed of $2,000 to help equip and staff our first medical mission station.  And I’ll tell you, things are moving here at ORU, and especially since we made that great announcement several days  ago on the program.  (APPLAUSE)

SPKM LARRY LEA Well, that is exactly right.  And while there is a tremendous turmoil that has…and gone about — this tremendous controversy about medical missions, we are united here at ORU. And because of that there is a commanded blessing coming on us, and also all of those, our partners, that are standing with us. So we give God praise today.  And it is a joy to see the Spirit of God moving.  (APPLAUSE)

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Larry, I know that in just a moment you have to depart, because you are going to be preaching in one of our chapel services for your graduate school of theology.  But before you go give us a good word of testimony about the Signs and Wonders Seminary, and about upcoming fall and enrollment in the Signs and Wonders Seminary here at ORU.

SPKM LARRY LEA Well, we are so thankful, Richard, for what the Holy Spirit is doing here at ORU.  The Lord just is doing something unique in the sphere of theological education.  As you know, Richard, we have — last Tuesday night — have a class called Signs and Wonders where we are bringing people into this campus that are actually doing the work of the ministry.  There is a great difference between learning about God and learning about ministry.  And learning how to practically apply it.  That is the very reason I am here, because I am the pastor.  Also, the Church On The Rock in Rockwall, Texas.  And we are doing ministry there.  And here at ORU we are equipping young men and young women to actually learn about ministry, but also learn to do the work of the ministry.  And for that I just want to say to anyone who is listening today who has a desire to study the word of God, has a desire to go into the depth of the word of God, and then learn how to do the work of the ministry.  We here are equippers and we will help you, and believe God to do great things in and through your life.  And so we are going to be having a great enrollment campaign that is going to begin.  And if you have a desire, you can write me, Larry Lea, Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and just tell me, “I need,” — or you know someone, maybe your pastor or others.  we have four new masters programs in our seminary.  A masters in counseling.  A masters of music.  We have a masters of Biblical arts.  And we are believing God is going to do a marvelous, marvelous thing through our seminary. So Richard, we are thankful for what is happening.  And I am believing God for 500 students in our seminary.  (APPLAUSE)
